Peaky A-frame beachbreak sculpted by offshore boulders at the north end of Reñaca, Chile's busiest summer beach destination an hour north of Santiago. SW to W swell from 3-8ft with an E to NE offshore wind is the sweet spot, though it handles a bit of onshore and all tides. This is an intermediate-to-advanced wave on its better days, but the lineup fills fast with everyone from rippers to bodyboarders, especially December through February. Bottom: Sand. Season: Oct-Feb, with December-February peak. Consistency: High. Focus on the north end near the boulders where the sandbars wedge into short, punchy A-frames with barrel sections and launch ramps for airs. Water can get murky after rain, and rips develop on proper swell, so keep an eye on the ocean when paddling around.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Reñaca is the primary beach holiday destination in Chile, which means ultra-crowded on weekends and absolutely heaving throughout summer. Localism exists but has weakened in recent years as the sheer volume of shifting peaks makes it hard to enforce. Standard respect protocols apply: don't snake, greet the locals, and the vibe stays manageable. Dawn patrol in shoulder season is the move if you want space.

Access & Facilities

Large parking lot at the north end makes access straightforward. No dedicated surf facilities on site, so bring water and snacks. Food and drink available in the surrounding resort town. Water quality is generally fair but degrades after rain due to runoff. Watch for rips when swell is up.

Nearby Alternatives

When Reñaca is maxed out or blown, check the sheltered spots along the coast to the north. Maitencillo rivermouth offers A-frames a stretch up the coast, and Ritoque to the south is similarly consistent with powerful beachbreak that works in comparable conditions.
