A river-mouth beach break at the Aconcagua River opening near Reñaca, La Boca Con Con is the go-to learner wave for Chile's Fifth Region. Swell from the S to SW gets the place working, with low tide generally producing the most defined peaks before the banks flatten out. Wind from the north or northeast helps clean things up, though conditions here are usually soft and sloppy rather than crisp. The wave suits beginners and surf school groups exclusively, and the lineup reflects that: weekdays are busy, weekends are wall-to-wall foamies and longboards. Bottom: sand. Season: year-round consistency, peaks in austral autumn and winter. Consistency: high at small size, degrades fast with size. Worth knowing: the Aconcagua River outflow creates real current on some days, and water quality is a genuine concern given upstream industrial activity, including a refinery, so check conditions before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is one of the most popular beginner spots in the Fifth Region, with multiple surf schools operating here. Expect a chaotic, friendly lineup dominated by learners and instructors. Localism pressure is low, but the sheer volume of beginners on weekends makes it genuinely difficult to surf without constant interruptions. Dawn patrol or weekday mornings are your best bet for any space.

Access & Facilities

Public and private parking is available on the south side of the beach. Close to the town of Con Con and Reñaca, so food, water, and rentals are easy to find nearby. The river mouth brings current and, critically, water quality issues from industrial discharge upriver. Avoid after heavy rain or when the river is running strong.

Nearby Alternatives

If the river mouth is blown out or the current is running hard, Reñaca to the south offers similar beach break peaks with slightly more variety. Further up the coast, more exposed stretches pick up swell with less river contamination risk.
