A high-consistency rivermouth left off the Cordova River, La Boquilla sits just south of the bridge and lines up off the rocks before running into the sandbars. S to W swells in the 3-10ft range are the window, with SE offshores grooming the face. Mid to large size brings strong rips and a long paddle out that will sort out the lineup fast. Intermediate surfers will find plenty to work with here, though the isolation and current demand solid water confidence. Bottom: rivermouth sand over rock. Season: autumn through winter, April to September. Consistency: high. Bring a leash you trust and check the rip line before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

La Boquilla sits in a long, lonely stretch of Central Chile coast. Crowds are occasional rather than consistent, but locals who make the effort to be here know the wave well. Respect the lineup, especially on bigger days when positioning matters and everyone is working the paddle.

Access & Facilities

Free parking near the bridge over the Cordova. Camping is available, making this viable for multi-day missions. No major facilities on site, so bring water, food, and a solid first-aid kit. Nearest services are back toward Pichilemu. No pollution concerns flagged.

Nearby Alternatives

Pichilemu, first surfed in 1983, is the regional hub and offers a range of breaks for different conditions. When La Boquilla is maxed, the sheltered options around the Pichilemu headland at La Puntilla offer a more manageable left. Topocalma to the north is worth checking when solid S swell is running.
