Chile's most accessible left wraps around a rocky point 3 km south of Pichilemu, delivering rides up to 300 m on a good swell and holding size from waist-high to a legitimate 20ft. SW swell from roughly 225 degrees is the engine. SE winds keep it glassy, and the cliffs themselves block the near-daily SW onshore that kills most other spots along this coast. Low to mid tide sharpens the middle sections into hollow, walling tubes. Intermediate surfers can find their footing on smaller days, but the paddle-out on a solid SW will cook your arms before you even catch a wave. Bottom: sand and rocks. Season: February to September. Consistency: high. Time your entry carefully off the rocks at the tip of the point or you will get worked.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

After Renaca, this is the most crowded break in Chile, and weekend crowds can be heavy. Multiple takeoff zones spread the pack on bigger swells, but don't expect solitude. Localism is present and increases when the swell drops and waves are scarce. Respect the lineup hierarchy and the reserve designation. Dawn patrol on weekdays is the obvious move.

Access & Facilities

Park at the tip of the point. The paddle-out on a big SW swell is a genuine workout. Pichilemu is 3 km north with food, accommodation, and board rentals. Water is cold year-round, a 4/3 minimum is standard. Santiago is roughly 3 hours east, making this a feasible weekend mission.

Nearby Alternatives

When Lobos is maxed out or overcrowded, the points and beach breaks around Pichilemu proper offer shelter and variety. For empty waves entirely, the coast south toward Buchupureo, Pullay, and Tregualemu runs a long stretch of uncrowded left-hand sand-bottom points that trade the fame for solitude.
