Hollow, punchy beach peaks south of Lima in Chorrillos punch well above their weight when swells hit and winds go slack. Villa works best on S to NW swell in the 3-8ft range, with NE offshore winds cleaning up otherwise messy conditions. Tide is forgiving across the range, but the wave's character shifts fast: small days offer punchier, more-shapely peaks with manageable barrels, while overhead-plus size produces heavy close-outs and fierce longshore currents that will work you over before you even catch a set. Intermediate to advanced surfers only. This is not a learner wave at any size. Bottom: sand. Season: year-round, most consistent in austral winter. Consistency: medium. Pollution is a real concern, commercial runoff affects water quality, so check conditions before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekend crowds are generally light. When Lima's better-known breaks are firing, Villa sits relatively empty. It draws more traffic during flat spells in the city when surfers fan out looking for anything working. The community here is tight-knit and the lineup is not a place for beginners, so self-select accordingly.

Access & Facilities

Located in Chorrillos, south Lima. Beach clubs in the area provide facilities including lifeguards, which are staffed up in summer. Parking is available near the beach. Water quality is a genuine hazard: commercial pollution affects this stretch of coastline, and surfing after rain or near runoff windows is not recommended. Don't paddle out alone when it's big.

Nearby Alternatives

When Villa is closing out, La Herradura to the north is Lima's best pointbreak and offers a more structured ride in a sheltered bay. The Costa Verde string of beaches provides multiple peak options closer to Miraflores when south swells are inconsistent.
