Fast, hollow beach peaks break around an industrial jetty south of Lima, making Conchan one of the better-quality beach breaks along Peru's central coast. Three distinct peaks cluster around the pier structure: the south-side peak is the standout, throwing left and right with enough punch to hold swells up to 8ft plus. The north peaks offer left-right options too but close out above around 6ft. SW to S swell, low to mid tide, and light offshore winds from the east bring out the best performance. Works from under 1m and scales impressively, though the fast take-offs demand solid experience. Bottom: sand. Season: works year-round with the Southern Hemisphere swell window peaking autumn through winter. Consistency: regular. The south-side peak is less critical on take-off than some nearby spots, but wipeouts still carry sand-scrape risk, so a helmet is smart on bigger days.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays see a manageable crew, but when swell arrives on weekends Lima's proximity turns the lineup competitive. Bodyboarders are a constant presence and often dominate the south peak during prime conditions. Arrive at dawn on weekends or mid-week to get your sets without the scramble.

Access & Facilities

Easy car access, instant paddle-out (under 5 minutes), and the spot is straightforward to find. Industrial surroundings mean don't expect picturesque beach amenities, and water quality near the jetty warrants caution after rain. The alternative name Playa Hermosa is used locally.

Nearby Alternatives

When Conchan closes out or crowds stack up, Explosivos is the area's rawer, more critical option for experienced surfers looking for a step up in consequence. Smaller, more forgiving beach breaks north toward Lima suit sessions when swell is minimal.
