A punchy sandbar peak on the southern edge of Lima's Circuito de Playas, Triangulo delivers short, fast rides with occasional tube sections when swell lines up. It needs a solid SW or S swell, at least 6ft, to activate the sandbar properly, and offshore winds from the SE keep it clean. Mid to low tide generally produces the best shape. Intermediate surfers who can handle quick, steep drops will get the most out of it, and the lineup stays relatively uncrowded on weekdays, though a few locals show up on weekends. Bottom: sandbar. Season: March through September when Southern Hemisphere groundswells are consistent. Consistency: moderate. One serious warning: theft is a documented problem at this beach, particularly in summer. Do not leave valuables in your car, and try to surf with a group so someone can watch belongings while others are in the water.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays are reliably quiet here, and even weekends only draw a handful of surfers. Localism is not reported as heavy, but the spot has a reputation for petty theft targeting unattended vehicles and bags. Arrive aware, keep gear minimal, and surf with a buddy who can keep an eye onshore.

Access & Facilities

Exit the Circuito de Playas near the large concrete convention center, just before the Regatta Club in the Barranco district. Without a 4WD vehicle, stay on the established track to avoid getting bogged in soft sand. No formal facilities on the beach itself. Food and water are available back toward Barranco, a short drive north.

Nearby Alternatives

If Triangulo is flat or closing out, La Herradura a few kilometres south is a better option in bigger, cleaner swell and handles size well. Miraflores beach breaks to the north offer more forgiving conditions for smaller swells.
