Peru's answer to a punchy, high-performance reef sits at km 46 south of Lima on the old Panamericana, serving up powerful lefts and rights off a rocky point with genuine contest pedigree. S, SW, and W swells are the engine here, ideally hitting at waist-high to triple overhead with a light E or glassy wind and a lower-to-mid incoming tide. Intermediate and advanced surfers will find plenty to work with, though weekends pack the lineup and the crowd is real. Bottom: rock. Season: April through September. Consistency: one of the region's most reliable, only shutting down on massive close-out swells. Watch for fishing lines on the inside, a punchy shorebreak on bigger days, and exposed rock hazards throughout the take-off zone, treat this as a known reef break, not a casual paddle-out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays see moderate crowds, weekends draw Lima's surf community in force and the lineup fills quickly. The local vibe is generally welcoming, but this is a known national-championship venue with a proud local base. Paddle out with respect, take your turn in the rotation, and the experience stays positive.

Access & Facilities

Look for the signed turn-off at km 46 on the old Panamericana south of Lima. A higher track reaches the cliff overlook, the lower track drops into beachfront parking, which has a small fee in summer. Paying a vigilante year-round is a practical precaution. Paddle-out from the south side of the point is most common. Water quality is clean.

Nearby Alternatives

When Punta Rocas is blown out or maxing, the Lima coastline south of Miraflores offers several beach-break options that handle different swell angles. El Silencio and Pico Alto nearby pick up similar swell but reward different board quivers.
