A forgiving left point in Mancora town picks up swell from multiple directions and works across a wide range of sizes, making it one of northern Peru's most accessible breaks for traveling surfers. NW and SW swells are optimal, with SE winds keeping it glassy most mornings. Best tide is low, though the wave runs longer at high tide through two distinct sections. Skill range runs beginner to advanced depending on size, but crowds are heavy daily and ultra-packed on weekends. Bottom: sand and rock. Season: year-round. Consistency: reliable. Arrive at dawn to score the cleanest conditions before the lineup fills and the onshore kicks in.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup is genuinely welcoming and locals are relaxed, but do not mistake that for easy positioning. Weekends get ultra-crowded and priority gets competitive fast. Respect the pecking order, take your turns, and do not drop in. Dawn patrol is the practical solution: better glass, fewer bodies, same wave.

Access & Facilities

Fly or bus north from Lima to Piura, then connect to Mancora town. By road, follow the Panamericana north roughly 1162km. The break sits directly in front of town so access is simple with no long walks. Accommodation, food, and surf rentals are all within easy reach. Drink bottled water only. Sunscreen and UV protection are essential year-round in this dry, hot climate.

Nearby Alternatives

If Mancora is maxed out or too crowded, northern Peru's coastline holds several left points and reef setups worth exploring independently. Chicama, further south near Trujillo, is worth the detour on the way up or down the coast for its famously long walls.
