A punchy left-hand reef barrel on the north Peruvian coast, Los Organos delivers two distinct tube sections when a solid NW or SW groundswell fills in. The wave needs at least 6ft of swell to wake up and shows its best shape at mid to high tide, where the reef organizes into a fast, hollow left that spits through both sections before backing off into a channel. It suits experienced surfers only: the wave is unforgiving, the reef is shallow, and a wrong line means a hold-down on rock. Bottom: reef. Season: April to October for Southern Hemisphere swells, though north swells can fire in the Peruvian winter. Consistency: fickle, particularly in the north, where flat spells of five or more days are common even in peak months. If you arrive to flat surf, the nearest comparable break, Lobitos, sits further south and picks up swell more reliably.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays the lineup is largely empty. Weekends see a few surfers. Respect in the water is non-negotiable here: do not drop in, surf with intent, and let your surfing do the talking. Those who charge and show respect are accepted without issue. Those who don't should not expect courtesy in return.

Access & Facilities

Exit at Organos off the North Panamericana Highway, turn toward the ocean and follow through to the pier area. Facilities are minimal. Be aware that theft has been reported in this area and in nearby Mancora: do not leave valuables unattended at the beach or at camp. Camping on-site is not recommended.

Nearby Alternatives

When Los Organos is flat or the swell angle is wrong, Lobitos to the south is the go-to: it picks up more swell and offers multiple reef and point options across skill levels. Mancora, just north, has beach break peaks that work in smaller, inconsistent conditions.
