A long left-hand pointbreak wrapping around Cap d'Antibes, La Tour is probably the longest left in the Alpes-Maritimes, named for a broken tower standing in the water near the point. It needs a solid S to W swell to push into this protected bay, and only the bigger swells reliably light up the reef, so consistency is low. NE offshore winds are required, and the wave works across all tides, though getting on it at smaller sizes risks contact with the reef. This is an intermediate crowd in a region that doesn't score often, so when it does fire, expect company. Bottom: reef. Season: autumn to winter. Consistency: low. Bring a fish or a slightly longer board to make the most of the rare long walls when they appear, and be cautious at low swell heights where the reef is unforgiving.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is one of the better waves in the Alpes-Maritimes, which means when it does switch on, it draws a crowd. Given the low consistency, surfers keen to score this one tend to show up ready. The lineup is intermediate in character, and the competitive atmosphere reflects how infrequently the spot actually fires.

Access & Facilities

A car park is available near the spot, though there are no dedicated surf facilities on site. The Cap d'Antibes area is well-serviced by the broader Cannes-Antibes infrastructure for food and supplies. Water quality raises no particular concerns. The reef is the main hazard, especially at marginal size.

Nearby Alternatives

When La Tour is too small or the swell window is wrong, the Cannes and Fréjus beachbreaks can offer messy but surfable options during E swells and strong wind events. Spots further west along the Var and Bouches-du-Rhône coast, including areas around Six-Fours and Cap Couronne, tend to have a wider swell window and more reliable surf when Mediterranean conditions align.
