A reliable beachbreak on the western shore of Cap Corse, Farinole catches W to N swells that bypass most of Corsica's sheltered eastern coastline. A reef band at the north end peak holds the sand in place and reduces the close-outs that plague exposed beachbreaks, giving the wave more shape than you'd expect from a sandy bottom. Offshore winds blow from the SE, and the spot works across all tides, which adds to its appeal as a consistent option when the swell window aligns. Best in the 2-6ft range, it suits intermediate surfers comfortable reading shifting peaks and handling occasional lumpy conditions. Crowds arrive sometimes, mostly driven up from Bastia when conditions are good. Bottom: sand over reef. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: medium. Pack a 3/2 wetsuit for winter sessions and check whether the north end peak is defined before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Farinole draws surfers making the drive north from Bastia, particularly when the east-side spots between the rocks are messy. It can get busy on good days, but the crowd is manageable. Arrive early on solid W/NW swells to get the best of the north peak before it fills up.

Access & Facilities

Direct road access from Bastia makes this one of the more straightforward Cap Corse spots to reach. A car park sits right at the beach. Camping is available nearby, making it a reasonable base for a multi-day surf trip along the cape. No significant pollution or hazards noted.

Nearby Alternatives

If Farinole is too onshore or the swell is too small, the harbour towns north along Cap Corse can occasionally hold a wave in lumpy conditions. To the south, Bastia's surrounding breaks offer fallback options, though they come with their own limitations in easterly swells.
