A-frame reef peaks mark the western gateway to Oahu's Nanakuli coast, and Tracks delivers clean, electric-blue peaks readable from Farrington Hwy as you roll into the Westside. Two to three rippable a-frame peaks break over coral reef, best on NW swell at chest-high to overhead, with ENE trade winds keeping faces groomed and glassy most mornings. The wave is accessible enough for surfers from intermediate level upward, though raw beginners should sit this one out, especially in winter when NW swells push size and power up fast. Bottom: reef. Season: November through March. Consistency: moderate, dependent on NW swell pulse. Watch the reef at low tide: bailing off your board without checking depth first is the primary hazard, and rocks near shore demand board control on the paddle-out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Being the first visible break off Farrington Hwy means Tracks collects a crowd, mostly local West Side regulars rather than visiting pros. Localism is manageable if you show respect and hold proper etiquette in the lineup. The North Shore circus pulls crowds away on large NW swells, giving Tracks more room to breathe on bigger winter days.

Access & Facilities

Tracks Beach Park sits almost directly across from the large power plant visible from the highway. Free parking in front of the break. Paddle-out is mellow given how close the waves break to shore. Do not leave valuables visible in your car. Water quality is clean.

Nearby Alternatives

Turtles sits at the park just before Tracks and is worth checking when Tracks is maxed out or too crowded. Continuing west, Makaha handles bigger swell and offers a longer, more powerful ride for those ready to step up.
