Clean, racy righthanders peel off a coral reef in front of the Sheraton Waikiki, making Three's one of the more rewarding waves in the Waikiki lineup during a solid south or SW swell. Optimal conditions call for SE to SW swell, 5-8ft, on medium tide with calm winds or a NE offshore. The wave can barrel nicely on bigger sets and runs long, with a deep channel at the end making the paddle back out manageable. Forecasts rate it slightly superior to neighboring Four's, and the crowd reflects that: it fills up fast once waves hit waist-high, drawing everyone from longboarders to experienced shortboarders. Bottom: coral reef. Season: April through October. Consistency: reliable through summer south swell season. Arrive at dawn to get your sets before the crowds build, and bring a board suited to the longer walls rather than something too short for the paddle.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is Waikiki, meaning crowds are part of the deal. Weekdays are manageable, weekends get competitive across all skill levels. The vibe is generally mellow but humility matters. Respect the lineup order, don't drop in, and experienced visitors earn their place without entitlement.

Access & Facilities

Park at Fort DeRussy parking structure and walk toward the water past the Halekoa Hotel. Three's sits in front of the Sheraton Waikiki between Pops and Four's. A rescue station on this stretch carries AEDs and emergency supplies through the Adopt a Cove program. Water quality is clean, though south Oahu's dense population means occasional runoff post-rain.

Nearby Alternatives

When Three's is maxed out or too crowded, Four's to the east offers a similar righthander with slightly less traffic on off-peak days. Pops, further west, is a longer, more forgiving option for those wanting room to breathe on smaller swells.
