A cluster of reef breaks scattered along Honolulu's Ala Moana Beach Park, each sub-spot earning its moment when the swell cooperates. Baby Haleiwa, Courts, 2nd Holes, Concession, Big Rights, and Shallows all share the same general recipe: S to SW swell, calm or NE-to-E offshore wind, and mid tide to keep the reef honest. Size range is chest-high to well overhead, and while none of these peaks reach the caliber of nearby Ala Moana Bowls, they offer real waves for a range of skill levels when small, narrowing to intermediate and advanced territory once sets push chest-high and above. Crowds are heavy whenever there's any size, lineups across the Honolulu Town stretch fill up fast. Bottom: shallow, sharp reef throughout. Season: April through October. Consistency: reliable during summer south swell season. Get out early or expect to share sets with a full crew.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

All Town spots run crowded at waist-high and above. Localism varies from peak to peak but expect competitive lineups across the board. Humility and respect are the price of entry here. Dawn patrol regularly rewards patience. If the main peaks are packed, the lesser-known sections can offer a breather, though none go truly uncrowded on a good swell day.

Access & Facilities

Park at Ala Moana Beach Park, which has restrooms, showers, and nearby food options. The water quality runs dirty due to the adjacent harbor, and pollution spikes significantly after heavy rainfall. Avoid surfing here for 72 hours after major rain events. The reef is shallow and sharp throughout, so booties are worth considering for less experienced surfers navigating the inside sections. A rescue station with AEDs and emergency supplies is on-site through the Adopt a Cove program.

Nearby Alternatives

Ala Moana Bowls sits nearby and is the standout wave in the area when it's on, though the crowd pressure reflects that. Kaisers and Rockpiles offer other Town options if the park breaks are maxed out or too packed to enjoy.
