An outside sandbars peak sitting roughly half a mile east of Jetty East along Florida's Emerald Coast, Two By Fours rewards the surfers willing to earn it. It works best on SE to SW swell, overhead to double-overhead-plus, with NW to NE winds keeping faces clean. Low-to-incoming tide is the sweet spot. Getting out requires either a committed paddle or drifting down from Jetty East on bigger days, so this isn't a spot you stumble into on a small day. All skill levels can enjoy it when it's mellow, but the tougher paddle on larger swells naturally filters the lineup. Bottom: sand. Season: fall through spring, with hurricane swells the prime window. Consistency: moderate, heavily swell-dependent. If word gets out on a good day, expect company, but the walk-in access keeps casual crowds down on average days.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Crowd levels run moderate, and localism is described as average and manageable. The saving grace is access: you have to walk, which naturally thins out the lineup compared to drive-up spots. On a pumping day when word spreads, expect more bodies in the water. Dawn patrol or midweek sessions will give you the best shot at open peaks.

Access & Facilities

Follow the beach road to where it curves sharply right. Look for the Sandpiper Cove condo complex, then continue roughly half a mile east until you spot a long boardwalk on the left. Park across the street and walk in. No shortcut paddle from the street, plan legs. Water quality is clean, consistent with the Emerald Coast's clear green water. Bring your own water and snacks since facilities are minimal.

Nearby Alternatives

Jetty East sits half a mile west and shares a similar sand-bottom setup with slightly easier paddle access. When Two By Fours is too big or the drift paddle is off, Jetty East is the logical fallback. Other Panhandle beachbreaks along this stretch can fill in on smaller days when the outside bars are sleeping.
