A low-key beachbreak on the northern end of Captiva Island, Blind Pass delivers short but rideable peaks on a coquina sand bottom when northwest swells push through. NW wind generates the swell here, so look for lighter offshores after the system passes. Low incoming tide is the sweet spot, higher water tends to flatten the wave and increase close-outs. Best size runs waist-high to overhead, making it accessible to most skill levels, and crowds stay light enough that the vibe stays relaxed. Bottom: coquina sand. Season: fall through spring, with hurricane swells adding occasional punch. Consistency: moderate, and largely dependent on NW wind events. Be aware of stingrays in the shallower sand flats and keep an eye out for sharks, which patrol the same food chain. Red tide outbreaks can periodically shut down sessions, so check conditions before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Access is easy with roadside parking, which keeps the lineup open and the vibe welcoming. Crowds are generally light to moderate. The ease of access means less territorial pressure than at harder-to-reach breaks. Dawn patrol during fall swells gives you the best chance at cleaner, less-contested peaks.

Access & Facilities

Pull straight in and park at the road. The break sits at the northern entrance to Captiva Island, so it is a straightforward find. No long walks or reef navigation required. Water is generally clean outside of seasonal red tide events. Check local conditions before heading out.

Nearby Alternatives

Tween Waters sits a short distance south and offers a similar beachbreak setup, occasionally with more shape. If Blind Pass is closing out or flat, other breaks continue farther south along the Captiva beach stretch worth exploring on bigger NW swells.
