A dumpy, occasionally hollow beach break stretching in front of the Tween Waters marina on Captiva Island, about a mile and a half south of Redfish Pass. NW swells drive the wave energy here, with NW winds for production and light offshores ideal once a swell fills in. Low incoming tide is when the banks tend to stand up best, pushing punchy rights and lefts that can throw on the better sets. Best size runs from thigh-high to just overhead, fitting any skill level willing to deal with the logistics. Bottom: coquina sand and dogbones. Season: fall through spring with hurricane swells in summer. Consistency: moderate, dependent on Gulf windswell and NW storm fetch. Parking is a genuine hazard: tow trucks actively patrol the area, which is ironically the main reason this stretch stays relatively uncrowded. Read the signs carefully before you paddle out, or retrieving your vehicle will cost considerably more than your session was worth.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Crowds are mellow, largely because tow trucks do real damage to participant numbers. The parking situation self-selects the lineup. Early residents who have been surfing this stretch for years can be protective of it, so approach with respect. Keep your head down, be friendly, and read the room.

Access & Facilities

This is a paid or restricted parking zone with active enforcement. Read every sign before leaving your car or factor in a significant towing fee. The break sits in front of Tween Waters marina on Captiva Island. Red tide outbreaks occur seasonally and will shut down the water quality, so check local reports before heading out. The dogbone bottom is the main physical hazard: wipeouts can result in head contact, so keep your hands up.

Nearby Alternatives

Redfish Pass sits roughly a mile and a half north and can offer different conditions depending on sandbars and tidal push. Blind Pass on the south end of Captiva connects to Sanibel and can produce beach break peaks worth checking on bigger NW swells.
