Coquina shelves define The Radisson, a beach break just south of Eau Gallie Boulevard on A1A in Melbourne Beach, Florida. NE to ENE swell is the target, best at waist to three feet overhead, with WSW to W winds keeping faces clean. Low to mid tide is the move here: at high tide the coquina and worm rock outcroppings become a shin-and-fin minefield, harder to read and genuinely risky to navigate. Intermediate and up should feel comfortable, but the rocks demand respect from everyone. Bottom: mixed sand and coquina reef. Season: fall through spring, with hurricane swells adding bonus windows. Consistency: moderate, aided by the shelves holding sand better than most nearby rocky breaks. Go at dawn before crowds build, check the tide chart first, and wear reef booties if you value your feet.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The vibe is welcoming and generally low-pressure. Crowds stay moderate even on the better days, partly because the rocky entry keeps the more casual crowd away. No heavy localism reported, but standard lineup etiquette applies. Dawn patrol sessions tend to be quieter if you want more breathing room.

Access & Facilities

Parking directly at the access point is limited. The church across A1A is the go-to option. Entry and exit demand care: at low tide the rocks are visible and manageable, at high tide they are hidden and unforgiving on shins, feet, and fins. Reef booties are a smart call, especially on bigger swells. The stretch along A1A has food and fuel options nearby.

Nearby Alternatives

Eau Gallie Boulevard itself picks up swell on similar NE windows and is worth checking if The Radisson is too crowded or the tide is wrong. Sebastian Inlet, a short drive south, offers a more structured right-hand point break when you need a change of pace.
