Spanish House earns its name from a large Spanish-style home directly behind the break, and the wave it guards punches well above the typical Florida beachbreak standard. ENE to E swell is the sweet spot, with WSW to SW winds going offshore and low tide exposing the deep outside bar that gives the wave genuine push and shape. The shallow inside section closes fast, producing legitimate top-to-bottom barrels that are rare for this coast. This is a high-performance wave best suited to experienced surfers who can read a shifting, current-driven lineup. Crowds arrive fast when swell shows up, and the overflow from Sebastian Inlet fills the parking lot quickly. Bottom: sand. Season: fall through spring, with hurricane swells a bonus. Consistency: medium. Come at dawn before the lot fills, or walk north or south to find your own peak away from the main pack.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Expect heavy crowds whenever a solid swell arrives. Spanish House absorbs Inlet overflow, and the lot fills early. The scattered peaks keep things slightly more manageable than the Inlet itself, and localism is doable rather than aggressive, but humility and patience are expected. The locals here have the sandbars dialed. Dawn patrol and weekday sessions cut the crowd pressure significantly.

Access & Facilities

Parking is free in the lot but limited and fills fast on good days. No facilities on site. Water quality is generally clean. Shark presence is real: the stretch from here south through Brevard County sees consistent activity, including occasional Tiger sharks. Crowds ironically reduce individual risk, but stay alert.

Nearby Alternatives

Sebastian Inlet, a short drive north, is the region's most consistent and powerful wave when NE to E swell is running, though crowds and attitude are heavier. Chernobyl's, just south of Spanish House, is worth a walk when the main peak is too busy.
