A reliable beach break on Florida's Treasure Coast, P.V. Martin's sits roughly two miles south of the St. Lucie County line and three miles north of Fort Pierce Inlet's North Jetty, named for the restaurant perched above the lineup. It needs at least chest-high surf to get going and catches NE to ENE swell well, though south swells get blocked by the Bahamas. Low to incoming tide is the sweet spot, and SW to W winds groom the faces cleanly. Best suited to intermediate and up surfers, since tidal push can produce stronger-than-expected currents. This is sand bottom, so wipeouts are forgiving, but the bull shark presence here is real and not to be dismissed. Bottom: Sand. Season: Fall through spring, with hurricane swells the wildcard. Consistency: Moderate, needs solid NE energy to fire. If the North Jetty crowd and its entry fee are grinding your gears, this stretch of beach delivers a quieter alternative without the circus.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup here is one of the mellower stretches on the Treasure Coast. Localism is minimal and the vibe is welcoming. The relative obscurity of this spot compared to Fort Pierce Inlet keeps crowds thin even on decent swells. Dawn patrol is rarely necessary for crowd reasons, though it's never a bad habit.

Access & Facilities

Access is straightforward off A1A. The restaurant P.V. Martin's sits directly above and provides a useful landmark. No entry fee, unlike the North Jetty a few miles south. Water quality is generally clean. The primary hazard is not the wave itself but the bull shark population in these waters. Trust your instincts: if something feels off, stay on the beach.

Nearby Alternatives

Fort Pierce Inlet's North Jetty, three miles south, is the go-to option when size and shape justify dealing with the crowd and the parking fee. Sebastian Inlet to the north is the Treasure Coast's marquee performance wave and worth the drive when it's pumping.
