A hard-breaking, hollow beachbreak in Fernandina Beach that punches above its weight when northeast swells arrive. No outside sandbar means unfiltered swell hits the sand directly, producing steep, fast lefts and occasional rights that get genuinely hollow at high tide. Works on anything from 2ft to overhead-plus, with the lefts performing best on a NE push. Offshore winds are westerly, which is fairly rare for this stretch of Florida coast, so time your sessions accordingly. The wave suits beginners and intermediate surfers on smaller days, but the hollow, fast nature at size is not forgiving for learners. Crowds build on weekends. Bottom: sand. Season: fall through winter for consistency. Consistency: high for Florida. Sharks are a real factor here year-round, and summer brings jellyfish including man-o-war, so heads-up when paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekend crowds are real, especially when swell is running. Localism is not reported as heavy, but like any consistent Florida beachbreak, good days draw a crowd fast. Dawn patrol or weekday sessions are your best bet for space in the lineup.

Access & Facilities

Free parking is available in the area. A nearby surf shop means you can rent or restock locally. Fernandina Beach has food and water close by. No reported water quality concerns, but stay aware of jellyfish during summer months.

Nearby Alternatives

Little Talbot Island State Park, a short drive south, holds consistent beachbreak across a long stretch of sand when conditions align. The jetty breaks further south offer more swell exposure from southerly directions when the northern window goes flat.
