Named for the limestone outcroppings that send geysers of whitewater skyward when swell hits, Blowing Rocks on Florida's southeast coast delivers hollow lefts over a shallow reef that demands respect. The wave needs a solid NE swell of at least 4ft to wake up, with WNW offshore winds to hold the barrels open long enough to make them worth chasing. Best from incoming to high tide, when the reef softens slightly but stays honest. Crowd pressure is minimal, but that's partly because this break earns its surf on a narrow window of conditions. Bottom: reef. Season: fall through spring, with hurricane swells the wildcard. Consistency: fickle. Bring a board you don't mind dinging, leave your longboard in the car, and treat the inside section like the hazard it is since the rocks are unforgiving on the way back in.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup stays mellow. Low crowd numbers aren't a sign of a secret spot but reflect how rarely conditions align. The vibe is welcoming when surfers do show up, and there's no notable localism pressure. That said, keep priority awareness sharp on the rare days it's pumping.

Access & Facilities

Access is straightforward with easy roadside reach. The area sits within Blowing Rocks Preserve, a nature conservancy managed stretch of Jupiter Island. Facilities are basic. Bring water and sun protection. The walk to the water is short but take time to read the rock layout before paddling out.

Nearby Alternatives

When Blowing Rocks is flat or the swell is too small, the beach breaks around Jupiter and Juno Beach pick up NE energy more readily and suit a wider range of surfers. Reef Road nearby is a step up in quality on the right swell and worth scouting on the same check.
