One of Peru's longest left-hand point breaks wraps around a massive headland roughly 45 km south of Trujillo, and on a solid SW swell it can link sections for well over 500 m of unbroken wall. Needs a genuine S to SW groundswell at 5-6ft minimum to wrap into the bay and connect all the sections, anything under that and the ride fragments. Wind protection is a real advantage here: the headland blocks everything from E through to SSW, giving you a wide usable wind window most mornings. Experienced surfers only. Crowds are rare because traveling surfers default to Chicama, Mancora, or Pacasmayo up the coast. Bottom: point. Season: austral autumn through winter, May to October. Consistency: swell-dependent, needs size. Bring a step-up and patience: you may wait a session or two for a swell large enough to make every section link.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The lineup is rarely busy. Traveling surfers concentrate on Chicama and Pacasmayo farther north, leaving Puerto Morin to a small local contingent. Respect is the rule: be polite, wait your turn, do not snake. A low-key approach goes a long way in quieter lineups like this one.

Access & Facilities

A road from the township of Puerto Morin reaches the northern tip of the headland. Facilities are minimal: carry water, food, and any spare equipment you need. The town is small. Fuel up and stock up in Trujillo before heading south.

Nearby Alternatives

Chicama, roughly 60 km to the north, is the benchmark long left of the region and worth the detour when swell is small and needs less size to work. Pacasmayo offers another long left option with better-known infrastructure for traveling surfers.
