A low-consistency submerged reef lefthander in Central Peru that earns its place by being one of the few breaks in the area that handles rare N swell. Located somewhere along the arid coastline north of Lima, Paraiso works on W to N swell from 3ft up to 8ft-plus, but demands high tide to cover the reef and produce anything rideable. SE offshore winds keep it clean. The lineup is expert territory: hollow, short-interval barrels over a submerged reef with little margin for error. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: summer N swell windows, inconsistent. Consistency: low. Come prepared with extra water and food because there is nothing in the surrounding area for miles, and don't expect crowds to save you if something goes wrong out there.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekend crowd is typically just a handful of surfers, and on any given session you may have it entirely to yourself. The low consistency naturally filters the lineup. Localism is not a documented concern, but the remote context means inexperienced surfers have no bailout options nearby.

Access & Facilities

Access is difficult. A network of dirt tracks from Huaura makes navigation challenging, and there is no parking infrastructure, no shops, and no surf services on site. Camping is the only facility noted. Bring more water and food than you think you need. The North Panamericana highway is your reference corridor.

Nearby Alternatives

When Paraiso is flat or the tide is wrong, El Rebote and La Antena are worth checking in the same swell window. Punta Salinas offers a similarly positioned headland that blocks smaller S swells. Further down the coast toward Lima, Playa Grande near Km 336 on the Panamericana holds good righthand beach peaks as a fallback.
