A semi-consistent right-hander breaks over flat rocks and sand at Playa Conchitas, tucked inside the town of Ancón roughly 40km north of Lima. It needs a W to N swell to switch on, easterly winds to hold the face, and works across all tides on the flat reef and sand bottom. Best in the 2-6ft range, it suits intermediate surfers looking for a playful session, though locals are territorial and will make their ownership clear if you drop in. Bottom: submerged reef and sand. Season: winter N swells and year-round W groundswell, most consistent May through October. Consistency: medium. Water quality is a genuine concern here as the beach sits near an estuary outflow, and community reports locals are blunt about sewage in the water after rain or heavy urban runoff. Check conditions carefully before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is a genuine local scene. Weekend crowds show up on hot summer days, and the local crew is protective of their waves. Respect the pecking order, don't snake sets, and keep a low profile if you're visiting. Getting caught dropping in will cost you more than a wave.

Access & Facilities

Fly into Lima, then bus north to Ancón. From town, a mototaxi gets you to the beach. No dedicated parking and no surf facilities on site. Restaurants are nearby in Ancón. Leave nothing unattended on the sand.

Nearby Alternatives

If Conchitas is flat or the water quality is off, Pasamayo 35km north of Lima offers beach break below large sand dunes. Further north, Playa Grande near Km 336 on the Panamericana runs good right-hand beach peaks when the swell lines up.
