A protected bay south of Agadir, Tifnit delivers punchy beach break peaks that double-up and reform close to shore, producing short but hollow left and right sections when the swell aligns. SW to NW groundswell in the 3-6ft range is the sweet spot, with mid to high tide keeping the sandbanks from going too shallow and closing out. Outer reefs provide some shape on bigger days when the bay can hold 6ft-plus, but those days demand respect: strong rip currents run through the bay and the paddle-out on a big swell is a serious physical commitment. The lineup suits beginners to intermediates in moderate conditions, with experienced surfers benefiting most when size and power ramp up. Bottom: sand. Season: Oct to Mar. Consistency: moderate, swell-dependent. Check the tide before paddling out since low tide can drain the beach and leave nothing to surf. Fins have been spotted in the bay multiple times, so stay alert and surf with others.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays and weekends alike, the lineup is typically empty. Agadir-based surfers occasionally make the run south, but Tifnit sits far enough from the city that crowds are rare. Locals in the village are welcoming. Respect the place and it stays quiet.

Access & Facilities

A rough piste track leads to the village of Tifnit. An off-road-capable vehicle is useful, especially after rain. No formal facilities at the beach itself. The village has basic provisions. Lifeguards operate in summer and may restrict access when currents are running hard. Bring water.

Nearby Alternatives

North toward Agadir, Imourane and the Banana Beach stretch offer more consistent and accessible beach break options on smaller swells. Devil's Rock, further up the coast, picks up more swell and suits experienced surfers looking for more length on the face.
