A hollow, powerful right-hand point tucked behind a cape 30km south of Essaouira, Cap Sim demands respect on several fronts before you even paddle out. Optimal conditions are a SW to N swell at 5-8ft hitting mid tide, with offshore easterlies grooming the face. The approach alone earns it: a rough 4x4 track followed by a long walk to reach the lineup. Intermediate to advanced surfers only, and even then the crowd dynamic here is real. Some local surfers are possessive of the peak and tensions have been reported. Bottom: point. Season: Sep-Apr. Consistency: medium. Arrive with patience and strong water skills, especially when size is up, as the paddle-out is no day at the beach.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Localism is a real factor. Reports consistently flag territorial behavior from some regulars. Come respectful, wait your turn, and read the vibe carefully before paddling for anything. If the tension feels heavy, consider it a sign to sit wider and observe first. Weekend crowds are generally light, but attitude can make it feel heavier.

Access & Facilities

No parking, no facilities, no services. Access is via a badly deteriorated track requiring a high-clearance vehicle or 4x4, followed by a substantial walk to the point. Theft has been reported in the area, so do not leave valuables in your vehicle. Bring everything you need including water.

Nearby Alternatives

When Cap Sim isn't working, the long beachbreak around Sidi Kaouki offers punchy peaks with more forgiveness and less attitude. Immesouane to the south is a reliable longboard and mid-length option when the swell is smaller and you want mileage over power.
