A shifty beachbreak over a grass-covered rock shelf, Oued Cherrat sits on the Atlantic coast roughly midway between Rabat and Casablanca, offering a reliable option when nearby reefs blow out. NW, WNW, and W swells fill the banks from 2ft up to overhead-plus, and an E or SE wind holds the surface clean. The semi-protected position makes it a smart afternoon choice when trade winds ruin more exposed spots up and down the coast. Intermediates will find the shifting peaks forgiving and fun, beginners can work the smaller days with care. Weekends bring a handful of locals but the lineup rarely gets hectic. Bottom: sandy beach over grass-covered rock shelf. Season: autumn and winter when the North Atlantic storm track fires. Consistency: high. Bring a funboard or fish for smaller days when the banks are broken up, and a shortboard when it pushes overhead.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays are quiet. Weekend crowds stay moderate, mostly composed of curious and welcoming local surfers. The local vibe is genuinely friendly toward travelers. A few words of French and a respectful attitude in the lineup will go a long way. Shoulder burn is described as medium, so wait your turn and don't snake.

Access & Facilities

The turn-off from the coast road is marked where the road crosses the creek. A half-mile dirt track through a cluster of houses leads to the sand dunes. A local kid may ask for a small informal parking fee. No facilities on site. Bring water, sunscreen, and everything you need for the session.

Nearby Alternatives

When Oued Cherrat is flat or maxed out, the reef and beachbreak setups between Rabat and Casablanca offer alternatives for most swell sizes. The Rabat-Salé stretch to the north has eight spots divided by groynes at the Bou Regreg rivermouth and is worth checking on the same swell.
