A heavy, fast-barrelling reef right on the North Morocco coast, Spiders detonates over a shallow shelf that holds just enough sand to keep it makeable, but only just. Optimal conditions are a W to N swell at 4-12ft, mid to high tide, with NE offshore winds cleaning up the face. The N component in the swell makes a real difference: more N means longer makeable sections and room for turns before the wave overtakes you. Low tide is a serious proposition, boils surface and close-outs become the norm, so time your sessions carefully. This is an experts-only lineup with genuine local presence, arrive with humility, take your turn, and leave the attitude at the carpark. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: Oct-Mar. Consistency: medium. Bring a step-up with volume, when this wave hits 8ft-plus and starts spitting, you need a board that paddles into the steep entry without hesitation.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Localism is real here. The regional editorials explicitly flags this as a localised spot with expert-only etiquette. Don't show up in a group, don't crowd the peak, and don't bring an attitude. Intermediates have plenty of waves on either side of this section, Spiders is not the place to push your skill ceiling with ten friends in the water.

Access & Facilities

Easy to spot from the clifftop road. There is a carpark, but no facilities on-site, so bring water and food. Watch for stormwater pollution after heavy rain, the nearby rivermouth flushes runoff, and the water quality drops noticeably. Hazards are mainly wave-related: shallow reef at low tide, heavy hold-downs on bigger sets.

Nearby Alternatives

When Spiders is too big or too low, the beachbreak stretching south toward Taghazout offers mellow, moveable peaks suited to intermediate surfers. Killers point to the south is the region's most consistent pointbreak and picks up more swell on smaller days. Banana, directly adjacent, fills the gap when Spiders sections out.
