A fast, hollow reef left peeling just north of El Conquistador on Morocco's Atlantic coast, La Derecha handles a wide swell window from under 1m up to 4m-plus before it maxes out. Best on mid to low tide when the reef compresses the swell into genuine tubes, particularly at 8ft-plus where rides extend and the barrel section holds. NE offshores keep the face clean, onshore winds quickly turn it messy. The wave suits experienced surfers only: closeouts are abrupt, the reef is shallow at low tide, and board breakages are a real cost of mistakes. Bottom: reef. Season: Atlantic groundswells peak autumn through spring. Consistency: moderate to good. Bodyboarders are a serious presence here and rip the tubes as well as any shortboarder in the water. La Derecha is localised. The crew is skilled, competitive, and numerous on weekends. Arriving with patience, a respectful attitude, and zero entitlement is the minimum entry requirement.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays see a manageable crew, weekends draw a full, competitive lineup of local surfers and bodyboarders who know every section intimately. This spot is localised. Don't paddle straight to the peak. Wait, watch, earn waves gradually, and keep the vibe positive. Aggressive or entitled behaviour will get you frozen out fast.

Access & Facilities

50m north of El Conquistador, in front of the former Metropolis building. Street access is straightforward from the main coastal road. Céuta and Tangier corridors have food and fuel nearby. Bring reef booties if you're surfing low tide. Check the section before paddling out: a hold-down on the shallow reef here is not a soft option.

Nearby Alternatives

El Conquistador sits directly south and can offer a different angle when La Derecha is closing out. On larger swells, nearby points along the North Morocco coast absorb size better and may be less crowded if this lineup is maxed or packed.
