A jetty-sheltered beach setup on Morocco's Atlantic coast, El Jadida's surf centres on the Deauville beach, where a pier and groyne system creates wind protection and nudges swell into rideable peaks. The bay faces north, so a genuine NW swell is required to get energy in past the headland geometry. Offshore winds blow from the south, and the break works across all tides, giving it more daily windows than many Moroccan spots. Size range runs 1-8ft, with the better surf in the 3-6ft window when NW groundswell is running. This is an intermediate-level wave that draws occasional crowds but rarely gets dangerously packed. Bottom: sand and rock mixed. Season: autumn through spring when NW Atlantic swell is active. Consistency: medium. Paid parking is available nearby but facilities on the beach itself are minimal, so bring water and food. The bay's north-facing aspect means it misses weak SW pulses entirely, so check swell direction carefully before making the drive.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

El Jadida draws occasional crowds, particularly on good winter swells when travelling surfers and Casablanca locals make the run down. The vibe is generally relaxed by Moroccan standards. Dawn patrol sessions on weekdays will find a noticeably quieter lineup.

Access & Facilities

El Jadida is a substantial town with good amenities in the centre, but the beach itself has no surf facilities. Paid parking is available. Stock up on water and food before heading to the beach. The town's Portuguese medina is worth a walk if you're waiting for the tide.

Nearby Alternatives

A short drive south of El Jadida sits a rock and sand righthander worth checking when the main beach is blown out or flat. The long beachbreak beside Azemour, just north, catches more northerly wind exposure and offers different conditions on the same swell. Oualidia to the south has a protected lagoon setup that works in conditions when the open beach is maxed out.
