Wedging A-frame peaks off a prominent rock formation give Devil's Rock its character, sitting on a 4km beachbreak stretch just south of Taghazout in North Morocco. N to WNW swells are the sweet spot, with NE to E winds keeping faces clean, mid-to-high tide tends to shape the banks best, though it functions through all tides and handles waist-to-head-high surf most consistently. Expect heavy crowds year-round, particularly surf school students in coloured rash vests who use this beach as a primary teaching ground. Bottom: sand. Season: October through May, with the core winter months delivering the most consistent groundswell. Consistency: medium. Pack a fish or funboard for small days when the peaks are punchy but short, and time an early session to get ahead of the school groups that pile in by mid-morning.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Locals are welcoming, but the lineup is genuinely busy most days and outright hectic on weekends. Surf schools operate here consistently, meaning paddle zones fill fast. Dawn patrol is the obvious move to find space. Respect the learners in the water and keep a wide berth from school groups near the impact zone.

Access & Facilities

Large pay parking area directly at the beach. Basic facilities include beachfront shops, a small restaurant, and board rentals on-site. Camping is available nearby. Easy beachfront entry with no significant paddle hazards. Water is generally clean but can turn murky after heavy rainfall.

Nearby Alternatives

When Devil's Rock is maxed out or overrun, Banana Beach to the north offers a similar beachbreak setup with slightly more shelter. Killers pointbreak is the most consistent wave in the Taghazout zone for intermediate to advanced surfers looking for longer walls on the same swell. Crocos peaks up just north of the rock if the main peak is too crowded.
