A heavy north-coast bombie over submerged reef, Roque Dos Hermanos sits just past Punta del Hidalgo and switches on when a proper N swell rolls in. Rights are the main event: throaty, barreling walls that need at least mid-size swell to start firing and can absorb genuine size when the conditions stack up. Offshore southerly winds and high tide are non-negotiable for a clean face. This is an expert lineup with intolerant locals, especially on winter weekends when the Canarian crew shows up in numbers. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: Oct-Mar. Consistency: high when swell is running. Come prepared for a competitive lineup, know your place in the pecking order, and don't paddle out on a crowded winter Saturday unless you can hold your own in serious surf and earn your waves.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Localism here is real and reported as heavy, particularly on winter weekends. Intolerant locals have priority, full stop. Dawn patrol on a mid-week swell is the practical approach for non-locals. Respect the pecking order, sit wide on your first session, and earn waves gradually rather than scratching into sets from the first paddle-out.

Access & Facilities

Past Punta del Hidalgo on the north coast of Tenerife. Carpark available but no facilities on site. Carry water and anything else you need. The reef is submerged so reef booties are worth considering, the hazard is the rocks underfoot at lower tides during the paddle-out.

Nearby Alternatives

The north coast of Tenerife has a spread of reef and beach options within range. When Roque Dos Hermanos is too crowded or too big, smaller exposed reefs and beachbreaks around Punta del Hidalgo can offer less competitive lineups. El Charco further along the coast is a powerful lined-up left that works the same NW swell with southerly wind.
