Flag Beach is the closest surf break to Corralejo town, a beachbreak delivering short, punchy peaks on E windswell or a solid N swell with NW offshore winds pushing through. Swell window runs broadly NW to SE, and the wave works across all tides, though sets rarely exceed 50m in length. Most days it's mellow enough for beginners and improvers to find their feet without getting worked, though the lineup fills up quickly given its proximity to hotels, surf schools, and board hire. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through spring for most consistent swells. Consistency: medium. Note that the Blue Flag hotel beach immediately in front of the hotels prohibits surfing, so paddle out from the correct section to avoid being waved in by lifeguards. The town infrastructure here is as good as it gets on the north coast of Fuerteventura, making this a sensible base when you're just starting out or looking for an easy warm-up session before hunting bigger waves elsewhere on the island.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Being the closest beach to Corralejo means it draws surf schools, beginners, holidaymakers, and rental groms all at once. Crowds are frequent. Localism is not a reported issue, but the sheer volume of learners in the water means patience is essential. Early mornings are calmer. If you want open water, check further up the coast.

Access & Facilities

Direct road access with a carpark adjacent to the beach. Lifeguard on duty in season. Bars, restaurants, surf schools, and board hire are all within walking distance in Corralejo. Water quality is clean with no reported pollution concerns.

Nearby Alternatives

When Flag Beach is maxed out or blown out, a peak breaks in the bay off Corralejo itself in big swells. When you're ready to step up, the right-hand point next to the small uninhabited island delivers up to 400m of peeling wall for experienced surfers.
