A submerged reef peak on Tenerife's south coast that only starts showing its teeth once swell pushes past 5ft. Picks up SE to SW swells and runs clean under NE offshores, working across all tides with the best lefts coming at lower water. At size it can punch well above its beginner label, throwing short punchy sections over a shallow, rock-studded bottom that demands respect. Surfers and bodyboarders with some experience will get the most out of it. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: spring and summer S swell windows, occasional autumn pulses. Consistency: medium, and genuinely flat for long stretches in winter. The harbour wall right next to the break has shortened the rideable length, so don't expect long runners. A community reports contributor who spent a full winter here reported almost no surf at all and steep, hidden rocks just below the surface even in apparently deep water, so scout the lineup carefully before paddling out.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends can get busy because Las Galletas is one of the only accessible breaks in the immediate area. Weekdays are typically quieter. No reports of heavy localism, but the short wave and compact lineup mean priority matters when sets arrive. Dawn sessions help on busier periods.

Access & Facilities

Easy access with a car park right at the spot. No facilities on site, so bring water and food. The harbour wall is an obvious landmark. Submerged rocks are the main hazard, including in water that looks deep, so booties are worth considering and a careful inspection of the lineup before entering is strongly advised.

Nearby Alternatives

When Las Galletas is flat or maxed out, the Playa de Las Americas stretch to the north holds several reef and beach options that handle different swell directions, including a well-known left over lava that works in similar S swell windows. The exposed south coast reefs around the same area can also come alive when a proper SE pulse arrives.
