La Santa Right, known locally as Morro Negro, delivers a long right-hand reef break on the northwest coast of Lanzarote, wrapping around the headland of the fishing village of La Santa. N or W swells of 4-8ft activate the break, with E winds grooming the face offshore. Low to mid tide is the sweet spot: the wave hollows out, links multiple sections, and on a good day produces rides approaching 300m. Intermediate surfers can manage it in smaller, cleaner conditions, but when size picks up the power and shallow reef demand solid experience. Bottom: reef. Season: year-round, with the most consistent run from October through March. Consistency: reliable for the Canaries, particularly in winter. Arrive early: La Santa Right is one of the most surfed waves on the island, and the lineup fills quickly when conditions align. The rocky reef is unforgiving, so helmets and reef boots are worth considering if you're unfamiliar with the spot.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This is a high-traffic wave for Lanzarote. Weekends and prime winter swells bring a full lineup, mixing local rippers with visiting surfers. Respect priority, don't snake, and paddle wide of the main take-off if you're still reading the wave. Aggression is reported occasionally when it gets crowded.

Access & Facilities

La Santa village has parking nearby and basic amenities: a few bars and small shops. The walk to the break is short. Watch the rocky shoreline on the way in and out, especially at low tide. No major rip channels to rely on for the paddle-out, so read the water before committing.

Nearby Alternatives

If La Santa Right is maxed out or overcrowded, the left-hander across the bay offers a mellower option in the same swell window. Famara beach, further south, picks up similar N and NW swell and has more room to spread out across multiple peaks.
