A rocky reef bay sandwiched between Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos on Tenerife's south coast, El Conquistador delivers mellow peeling lefts and rights over flat but jagged rock. It fires on SW and NW swell from waist-high to double overhead, with SE or E winds keeping faces clean. Mid to all-tide works, though a submerged rock on the inside section demands attention at high water. Intermediate surfers get the most from it when size builds, beginners should sit this one out given the sharp reef and occasional rip. Bottom: rocky reef. Season: October to March. Consistency: moderate. Pack reef booties if your feet are soft, and check the tide before paddling through the inside section near the large rock.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekday lineups are light but the spot draws moderate crowds when conditions align. Several reports flag a competitive local crew who guard this wave with some intensity. Keep it respectful, take your turns, and don't burn anyone. Dawn patrol skips a lot of the friction.

Access & Facilities

Park on Calle Arenas Blancas and pick your way carefully over sharp rocks to the water. Las Americas resort strip is on your doorstep for food, water, and gear rentals. Water quality is generally okay but aging infrastructure means occasional sewage discharge reports, worth checking before paddling out.

Nearby Alternatives

When El Conquistador closes out or the crowd peaks, La Derecha a short distance away offers a longer right-hand ride on the same swell. Spanish Left picks up similar conditions and gives experienced surfers a punchy alternative if the reef here isn't playing along.
