A punchy, hollow submerged reef tucked inside a bay on the north coast of Fuerteventura, Bristol draws experts chasing fast barrel sections on NE and NW swells. It prefers NE swell with SW offshore winds and works across all tides, though low tide turns the place into a minefield of exposed rocks and urchins, urchins being the bigger ongoing concern throughout the session. Handling 3-12ft, it suits experienced surfers only, and the crowd reflects that, bodyboarders dominating the lineup alongside campers from the nearby Shooting Gallery and travelling surfers without wheels making this one of the more consistently packed spots on the island. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: year-round north swell season, peaking autumn through winter. Consistency: high. Bring reef booties, even at higher tides, and plan for a shoulder-to-shoulder lineup at any reasonable swell size.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

This spot draws a consistent crowd. Local bodyboarders, campers, and carless travellers fill the lineup whenever swell arrives, and with high overall consistency, that means pressure almost every session. Respect the bodyboard culture here, they have priority and history at this wave. Dawn patrol helps, but do not expect solitude.

Access & Facilities

Close to the road with free parking, Bristol is easy to reach. There are no facilities on site, so bring water, snacks, and a first-aid kit. Reef booties are strongly recommended given the urchin and rock exposure at lower tides. Water quality is clean with no pollution concerns flagged.

Nearby Alternatives

When Bristol is too low or too crowded, the outer reef at Correlejo fires on big swells with more water over it and multiple take-off spots. For something more forgiving, the longboard-friendly wall at Generosa offers a mellow alternative when north swells are pumping.
