Crowd & Localism
The lineup is rarely crowded, reflecting how hard it is to get here. There's no consistent local crew to navigate, but that also means no one to call on if something goes wrong. Respect the effort others have made to reach it.
A hollow, powerful submerged reef break on the exposed SE tip of Lombok, Sereweh demands a specific combination of SE-SW swell and northerly winds to show its teeth. Optimal size runs 2-8ft, with the wave best approached at mid-to-small swell when the performance ramps along the eastern channel are linking up cleanly. It suits expert surfers only: the reef is unforgiving, access by land is rough and the boat ride out is long. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: wet season, roughly Nov-Mar. Consistency: medium. Bring a spare board and know that if there's no whitewash on these reefs at all, Lombok is flat.

No facilities, no parking, no easy road. The standard approach is by boat, and even scoping the break from the water is difficult. Land access involves a rough track and a significant walk. Ask locally in the Kuta area for guidance. Come fully self-sufficient: water, food, first aid, and a backup plan.
If Sereweh is too small or the boat ride isn't viable, the Kuta bay area offers more accessible options including Mawi to the west, a quality dry season break that works across a wider swell range. The Novotel reef closer to Kuta picks up small SE swells and is easier to score.
