A scenic bay on Lombok's south coast offering two distinct reef breaks, Belongas Bay is accessible almost exclusively by surf-charter boat. The east-side left is the standout: longer, hollower, and more consistent than the shorter, punchier right on the west side. Both reefs need S to SE swell, ideally cyclone-generated, and fire best on W to NW winds that blow offshore during the wet season. Size range runs from waist-high up to well overhead, and both breaks handle all tides. Neither wave quite reaches Desert Point territory, but they deliver fun, quality surf for intermediate to advanced riders in a genuinely uncrowded setting. Bottom: coral reef. Season: May to September. Consistency: moderate, swell-direction sensitive. Bring reef booties if your feet are soft, and expect a boat-only paddle-out situation with no shore access to the better peaks.
Belongas Bay sees minimal crowds outside peak charter season. The lineup is mellow and the local vibe is welcoming. May through August is when charter boats concentrate in the region, so expect the most company during those months, though "crowd" here rarely means more than a handful of surfers. Dawn sessions are your best bet for solitude.
Boat access only for most surfers. This is a standard stop on south Lombok surf charters operating out of Kuta Lombok. No shoreside facilities at the breaks themselves. Bring water, reef-safe sunscreen, and first-aid supplies for coral cuts. The remoteness is real: the nearest services are back in Kuta. Water quality is clean.
Desert Point to the west on Lombok is the obvious upgrade when swell is pumping and you have the skill for it. Mawi and Selong Belanak are closer options with easier access if the bay isn't cooperating.
