Les Bourdaines is a punchy, hollow beach break in Seignosse, on the Landes stretch of southwest France's Côte d'Argent. It picks up SW to NW Atlantic swells reliably, working from under 1m up to 2.5m-plus on bigger ground swells, and performs best at mid tide when the banks hollow out. Offshore winds blow from the east, which is typical of the morning window here before the daily sea breeze fills in. The break suits all skill levels on smaller days, but when size climbs toward the top of its range it becomes a fast, punchy wave demanding solid intermediate to advanced surfing. Weekdays the lineup is uncrowded, but summer weekends draw heavy crowds to both the beach and the water. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn and winter for quality, spring for consistency. Consistency: moderate to high. Book an early session to beat both crowds and wind.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekday sessions are genuinely quiet, but Les Bourdaines sees significant crowd pressure on summer and autumn weekends when the whole region mobilises. Localism is not a major factor here, but respect the peak rotation. Dawn patrol in summer effectively doubles your wave count.

Access & Facilities

Park at the signed "Les Bourdaines" car park in Seignosse. Facilities in town cover the basics, including food. The surrounding Seignosse and Hossegor area has multiple beach-break options within a short drive if the banks here are blown out or maxed.

Nearby Alternatives

Hostegor's town beaches and La Gravière are a few kilometres south and offer similar beach-break quality in the same swell window. La Piste and Le Penon to the north pick up the same swells with slightly different bank exposure and are worth checking when Les Bourdaines is too crowded.
