A-frame · BeachBeginner → Advanced2–8 ftJan – Dec

A stretch of open beachbreak along Dune Road's western reaches, where small groins help anchor shifting sandbars that produce rights and lefts across a wide range of conditions. SE swell is the primary driver here, with NW to NNW winds cleaning things up nicely. Mid tide tends to produce the best shape, and the wave works from waist-high up to well overhead. Limited beach access points mean you'll spend some time hunting the best bar before paddling out, but the search is manageable if you know to look. Bottom: sand. Season: September through March. Consistency: moderate. When nearby lineups get crowded, this stretch is worth a lap to see if a quieter peak has set up along the road.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Crowds are moderate and the local vibe is generally doable, sitting mid-range on both counts. The real hazard in summer isn't aggression, it's tourist density on the beach and in the water. Dawn patrol during shoulder and winter months is the cleanest way to score a quiet bank without the noise.

Access & Facilities

Access is rated easy, though beach access points are limited along Dune Road. Public parking exists but fills up in summer. Water quality is consistently clean. No specific facilities noted at the break itself, so come self-sufficient with water and food.

Nearby Alternatives

When Dune Rd. West isn't producing, the broader Hampton Bays and Fire Island zone offers more beachbreak options along the same swell window. If SE swell is pumping but this stretch is blown out or crowded, check eastward along the South Fork for more sheltered setups.
