Size range runs 1-6ft, with the better hollow sections appearing on a pushing tide. Intermediate surfers will find it manageable most days, but the lineup draws crowds from as far as Guidel, 15km away, precisely because it works when nothing else does. Bottom: beach. When Toulhars is flat or the water quality is questionable, Guidel's main beach to the south picks up more swell and is the most consistently surfed stretch in the area. Farther afield, the Quiberon peninsula and its sheltered west-side spots offer different exposures worth checking on the same swell.
