A flexible beach break between Capbreton and Labenne that produces fast, punchy peaks across a wide size range, from knee-high fun waves up through solid 8ft-plus sets on bigger swells. It works best on SW to NW swell with an offshore easterly wind, and mid to high tide keeps the banks full and the walls cleaner. The wave character shifts with the sandbanks: smaller days produce playful, forgiving rides suited to intermediates building confidence, while bigger swells push into fast, punchy sections that reward aggressive surfing. Weekdays the lineup stays quiet, sometimes just a handful of surfers sharing the banks. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn and winter for size, spring for consistency with light crowds. Consistency: moderate to good through the cooler months. Bring a step-up when swells push past 6ft, and check the sandbank positions on arrival as the best peak shifts along the beach.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays can be genuinely quiet, with just a few surfers out even during spring and autumn swells. Weekends draw more bodies and the lineup gets competitive at the better banks. Community reports are mixed on local attitudes, but general surf etiquette and a respectful approach keeps things civil. Dawn patrol on weekend mornings is the obvious play to avoid the pressure.

Access & Facilities

From Capbreton, take the road toward Labenne and follow signs for Camping La Pointe. Parking is available near the access point. The beach is part of the long Les Landes coastline, so there are options to walk the shore if one bank is crowded. Basic facilities available at the campsite. Water quality is generally good but can be affected after heavy rainfall.

Nearby Alternatives

Capbreton itself has multiple beach breaks and the harbor jetty wave, giving options across tides and swell angles when La Pointe's banks are not cooperating. Hossegor to the north carries more swell on the same windows and offers higher-performance peaks for surfers wanting more punch.
