A fickle but occasionally savage beach break near Brest, Dalbos fires short, hollow barrels when the banks align and the swell angle cooperates. SW to NW groundswell in the 3-8ft range is the target window, with low tide exposing the sandbanks that give it punch. Offshore winds from the E or SE clean it up fast. This is not a learner wave: nine out of ten waves close out without warning, the lineup rises quicker than expected, and getting caught inside is a real consequence. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: low overall, but memorable on good days. Bring a step-up if solid swell is forecast, and check the banks on arrival before committing to a session.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekdays it's effectively empty. Weekends bring a handful of surfers. The wave naturally self-selects: most casual surfers won't paddle out after watching a few close-out sets. Respect the handful of regulars who have put in the time reading the banks.

Access & Facilities

Close to Le Petit Minou on the western Brest peninsula. Take the next road on the left past that landmark. Cliffside setting with rocks in the mix. No soft-entry infrastructure here. Bring your own water and expect nothing in the way of facilities.

Nearby Alternatives

Le Petit Minou itself is the obvious fallback when Dalbos is shutting down. The wider Finistère coastline holds multiple beach breaks that handle similar swell windows with more consistency.
