A fast, ledgey right-hand point reef on the Cap Sizun coast of Brittany, Pointe de Lervily breaks over shallow rock and demands expert-level commitment. It needs a solid W or SW swell to fire, and handles size well when the right conditions align. Offshore N winds clean it up, and mid to high tide keeps the shallower sections manageable. The take-off zone is compact, the currents swirl hard as they exit the bay, and rocks and boils pop up unpredictably through the ride. Two separate rights break here: one close to the Ile aux Vaches and another further into the bay. Neither barrels consistently, but both run fast and ledgey, punishing anyone who loses speed or line. Bottom: shallow reef. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: medium. Bring a board with enough volume to generate early speed, and do not paddle out alone.
The spot draws crowds despite its difficulty, particularly on the smaller end of its operating range when the take-off is tighter and more competitive. Expect locals who know the reef well. Respect priority and give experienced surfers their space, especially on bigger days.
A car park and restrooms are available nearby. Water quality is clean with no reported pollution concerns. Hazards are significant: shallow reef, unpredictable boils, and strong swirling currents exiting the bay are the primary risks. Check the current state of the tide before entering.
When Lervily is too big or too crowded, the Cap Sizun coastline conceals several lesser-known reefs and beach breaks worth exploring on foot. La Palue and nearby Atlantic-facing beaches offer beachbreak options when the swell is more manageable.
