A fast, hollow left peels over a submerged reef close to Lesconil harbour, tucked into the coastline between Benodet and Beg Meil in southern Finistère. The window is narrow: you need a solid S to SW swell pushing 3-6ft, N or NW offshore wind, and low to mid tide to see it break properly. When those stars align, the left throws quickly and hits hard, running 50-150m on a good day before shutting down. Consistency is low by Brittany standards, this coast is shielded from most swell tracks, so the spot sits dormant for long stretches. Bottom: submerged reef. Season: September through March. Consistency: low. Check La Torche first before committing to the drive here, as it picks up swell far more reliably and gives you a real read on whether the coast is firing. Advanced surfers only, the hollow sections and shallow reef at low tide leave no room for hesitation.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

The car park fills on the rare days this spot delivers, and locals who have waited weeks for conditions are understandably protective. Weekends especially concentrate the crowd. Paddle out respectfully, read the priority dynamic, and do not expect a warm welcome if you show up on the first clean swell of the winter.

Access & Facilities

Car park and restrooms at the harbour. The reef is visible from the port wall, which makes a useful pre-paddle read. No surf rental or schools here. Water quality is reported clean with no pollution concerns.

Nearby Alternatives

When Lesconil is flat or blown out, La Torche to the west is the default option, a far more consistent beachbreak and reef setup that handles a wider swell and wind range. Benodet and Beg Meil beach peaks are worth a check if a small W swell is running and everywhere else is maxed.
