Punchy, hollow beach break at the southern end of the Longeville bay, Vendée coast, Northwest France. It needs a solid W to NW swell of 3-5ft to wake up and holds power well into the 8ft-plus range. Offshore winds come from the E to SE. Mid to high tide keeps the banks from shutting down, though the window shifts with sand movement. This is a wave for experienced surfers comfortable with fast, powerful peaks that close out quickly. Bottom: sand. Season: autumn through winter. Consistency: moderate, swell-dependent. It regularly outpunches its neighbour Les Conches in raw power, so bring a board you can drive hard through steep sections. Crowds are heavy in summer and reach a breaking point on weekends. Localism has tightened noticeably over the years, and the vibe in the lineup reflects that pressure. Dawn patrol in autumn is the most reliable window for space and quality combined.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Summers are genuinely overcrowded, and recent reports flag growing local tension. Weekends are the worst window by a wide margin. Localism has increased steadily and the lineup demands respect. If you are visiting, go early, go mid-week, and read the pecking order before paddling into sets. Do not expect a warm welcome if you drop in.

Access & Facilities

Approach via D105 toward Les Conches and use the Les Conches car park. Walk the Chemin de la Forêt track to beach access points in that area. Board rentals are not available at this access point. Longeville-sur-Mer town has surf shops within a short drive. No facilities directly at the beach.

Nearby Alternatives

Les Conches is the immediate neighbour and shares similar bank setups with slightly less raw power. When the Vendée coast is maxed out, the sheltered rivermouth and harbour setups further north toward Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie can offer more manageable size in big swells.
