A storm-dependent beachbreak tucked into the northeast-facing bay at Perros-Guirec, Trestraou only wakes up when proper westerly or northwesterly swell wraps into the bay at 8ft or above. Offshore winds blow from the east, but the sheltered position means true offshores are rare, most sessions run in compromised westerly storm conditions. Works across all tides, though banks shift frequently and the wave length stays short, rarely pushing past 50m. Intermediates dominate the lineup on good days, but be honest about what "good" means here: closey beach peaks and a rotating cast of local teenagers keep the vibe tense on weekends. Bottom: mixed sand and rock. Season: September through March. Consistency: low to medium, storm-dependent. If the banks aren't lining up, the whole beach can close out in one fat wall, check conditions before the drive from Lannion.

About this break

What it's actually like

Crowd & Localism

Weekends draw a dense local crew, heavy on teenagers with territorial energy. Community notes flag the atmosphere as unwelcoming and the lineup as crowded relative to wave quality. Dawn patrol on weekday mornings gives you a better chance of space. Don't expect a warm welcome if you're unknown in the water.

Access & Facilities

Road access is straightforward with a car park at the beach. Full city beach facilities including a surf shop in Perros-Guirec. Camping nearby. The pink granite coast towards Ploumanac'h and the Seven Isles are visible from the lineup.

Nearby Alternatives

Pors Nevez, the pocket beach just to the east, offers a more defined righthander over rock and sand but needs S wind and low to mid tide. When Trestraou is maxing out or blown out, the Brest area holds far more consistent and higher-quality options worth the extra drive.
